I have a question:

I am replacing my interior stairs from my main floor to my basement with pre-cut Oak treads and risers.

My Floor Opening is about 102.5". My Total Rise is 93".

Using your calculator I figure that I need to use the steepest to keep my headroom.

this calcs to a Rise of 7.75" and a run of 10" for a total run of 110" (which works well at the landing).

This means I need 12 Risers and 11 Runs (treads).

Here is my problem. I purchased 12 risers and 11 treads of solid oak and have completely refinished them.

The risers measure 7.25" (7/8" thick) and the treads measure 11.5" (1 1/8" thick), both 36" wide.

How do I cut my stringers to accomadate this? Did I really screw up?

Pleas advise and thank you.

I am in the process of making a drawing that will show you how it would layout. But essentially you will still have the 7.75" rise and 10" run for the stringer. Your best bet would be to set the tread at the 11.25" measurement. And then cut down the riser to 6-5/8" which will sit on top of the tread and not behind. That will give you a 3/4" overhang.
I'll post the drawing when I get it done.
