Just getting my forms ready for slab foundation to be poured on mt 365sq ft room addition. I am going to hire a plumber for the 1/2 bath but I plan to do the labor (i.e digging trenches, etc...) to save some money.

What is involved in tying the drain in to a current nearby bathroom?

If the drain can not tie in to the existing bathroom and has to run to the sewer, about how deep am looking to dig these trenches for the new drain?

Thanks for any info you might have.

Your best bet would be to hire a plumber now.. with the understanding that you will dig the trenches. To tie to an existing waste / drain line you will need a sanitary tee that will go inline to the existing with the tee to the new portion of piping. Other than that.. um.. well not much. Also required (depending on distance away from existing vent) is a vent pipe for the new bathroom fixtures. If it's over 10' for a 3" line you will need to vent (that's pretty close anyway). Some municipalities will require anything less than a 3" line vented and everything above is ok.. you'll have to check with yours. When digging the trenches you will need to know how far the run is for the piping... it can slope no more or less than 1/4" per foot. There are exceptions to any rule of course.. so again check with your local municipality or talk with a plumber.
