Is there any problem with screwing hardibacker over drywall? We're going to bring a wall out 1/4" and were thinking of using drywall but the question of whether the screws will pull into the drywall at the studs came up. Will it end up wavy? (I'm voting for no)

You'll probably have to glue it also - that's with either material. Otherwise I don't see a problem with using drywall - although it might be tough to find 1/4" drywall.. :)

You could do it. But besure to use some construction adheasive as well.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this. We put it up over 3/8" with no adhesive. It's actually just a small section (5'x3'). It's got plenty of screws in it though :)
