thanks to you fine folks for answering the questions of a novice having a new house built (first time - can you tell??)

I visited the job site today, and noticed they didn't install any sort of barrier between the foundation sill and the sill plate. Do you use an adhesive - caulking type of product and run a bead in there nowadays? they have to have put something in there, right??

Also, will there be a problem that I'm having my house built during what is pretty much the rainiest time of the year? Hope not. I live in the Pac Northwest so we get a lot of rain.

Welcome to the forum jjcold.
There should be some sort of sill sealer between any wood (treated or not) and concrete. Typically there is a 1/4" thick foam sill sealer - usually blue, green, or white in color. I've never seen any adhesive used but that's not to say it wouldn't work.
As far as the rain.. it's not the best situation but not detrimental either. The contractor should be taking care of any standing water and every attempt should be made to protect the materials. One thing to remember that many contractors make the mistake of covering wood with plastic. This is alright when it's cold and rainy but when the sun comes out and gets warm make sure to give some air flow around the plastic and the wood. Sun is much worse for wood than a little water (not a lot) because it dries the surface too quickly and most every board will warp in a day or less in hot sun... sorry - you probably won't have to deal with that for awhle anyway.
Hope that helps.
