Hopefully these pics will work...I have a upstairs porch attached to the back of the house...it's 7' wide, attahced to the house on one side and supported by 2 lolly columns on the outside. Every year it bends in the middle (Maine), and this year I rennovated the room, dug out around the column supports and laid styrene insulation around the post base about 2' underground (kindof standard around here for decks etc. to prevent heaving). It still moved this year, so I guess I'll put new posts in nets year, maybe deeper. Any ideas on supporting a 7' x 14' porch? Is 2 columns enough? They support the 2 outside corners. The flooring base is 2x8s.
Much of the stress is in the middle of the 7' sections. It even cracked the drywall I put on. See pics. Do I need more support just across the 7' section?
