Hi Everyone, first post here and hoping for a little bit of help!!

Im currently having two rooms knocked into one, the wall was lower floor, and breeze block, but was not a supporting wall for the roof, as the wall above is just a studded wall.

The builder that I got in to do it was well recommended by a number of friends as his work is excellent, but was told he does like to do things the easy way.

When I first spoke to him, I mentioned that I didnt want the steel support beam below ceiling height, as just want it to look like one room - this was all fine by him at the time. But from speaking to him now he is telling me that this cant be done, but I think he is taking the easy route again!

Here are some pictures below, any opinions would be greatly appreciated before I speak to him again tomorrow - hopefully with a few more facts behind me!

OK, thats all the pics.

I know its not the easiest thing to give an opinion on from just pics, but I would really love to know if you think it can be done without installing a steel beam under the ceiling height?

It can be done flush to ceiling (hidden) but would require additional demolition to ceiling to get enough room to install hangers, etc. More difficult but definately not impossible.
