We are gutting our house, in sections, and need to replace the very old and abused windows.
I absolutely hate vinyl anything, so that's out. I'm thinking wood, since we will only be in the house for another 4 years, I'm not worried about upkeep. We want something upscale, as the house will be fairly expensive when it is finished, and we want to be able to justify that expense.
We have one window size throughout the house (36x64 RO), and we will need 20+ units that size.
Marvin came in at $650 each. This is for a DH, primed exterior, upgraded hardware, LowE/Argon, SDL. I know they are nice windows, but I'd like to find some other options that cut a little off that price.
Can anyone give me some options for other wood window manufacturers to look at (or avoid)? I'm looking for quality, but it doesn't have to be the Rolls Royce of windows. Again, we're moving in about 4 years.
