I am installing a one piece tub/shower. I need to know the best way to support the base (i.e. shim, morter bed, etc.).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I would say mortar bed. Most tub/showers say they are self-supporting but IMO it always seems like it flexes too much between the supports.

Yeah, we have a shower unit that makes a lot of noise from water hitting the bottom that has some space below it, and you can feel it flex a bit when you stand in it. It's not bad, it would just feel a bit better if there were something under it.

What I have done in the past is just get a gallon or so of fiberglass resin and some hardener and slop it on the rough side of the tub/shower, especially the bottom. It doesn't cost much but it sure makes them a lot more sturdy. Doesn't cause it to warp either. Most tub manufactureres are chintzy about materials.
