I just installed 4 6" recessed lighting fixtures in my basement. I have them all on the same circuit, controlled by a remote controlled dimmer switch. Last night, when I put power to them for the first time, one of the 4 fixtures did not work. I checked my connections to the fixture, tried again...nothing. I shut the breaker off, left it for the evening, tried it again this morning, and low and behold, all four lights were on. Can anyone give me a clue as to how this could happen, and tel me if I should be confident enough to go ahead and hang my drywall?

Sounds like if the connections are good, - - and aside from the wire run itself which can't be bad, because the other lights in the same run are working - - we're down to the either the bulb or the can itself, including socket and solder connections, - - start by trying to switch that bulb with another one, - - if the other location doesn't come on, - - you've narrowed it to the bulb which you can then toss, - - otherwise maybe it's the can, - - either way, - - I wouldn't go any further until I found the problem. It is often very hard to find an 'intermittent' open connection, - - you might want to play it safe and replace the can either way, - - then you'll be able to continue working. Loose and intermittent connections are a fire hazard as they can cause arcing then fire without ever tripping your breaker.

I definitely would not hang the drywall yet.
