Considering the fact that porter cable calls the biscuit joiner that I bought last week a plate joiner, I'm pretty sure they are one in the same. The PC is nice because it also has the ability to use a 2" blade and mini-biscuits for smaller work.

I don't know of a difference between the two either, - - other than maybe that the plate jointer has a larger surface (plate?) registration area. I've got both the PC and the DeWalt, - - they're both good, - - I think the DeWalt is a little faster and easier to use, - - but the PC would be my choice for it's higher degree of accuracy, - - and like bkrahmer says, - - the small biscuit option is a definite plus.

Or, - - the more I think about it, - - maybe they're calling the biscuit a plate? Hmmm.

well we picked up the " el cheapo" gmc biscut joiner for arround $100 i wasnt willing to spring for a porter cable untill i see how much actual use the tool will get . I also nabbed a palm nailer and i got to say if i had known how handy they were i would have owned one years ago LOL thanks for the responses everyone

Hey redneck. Where would use a palm nailer? I played with one a few years ago and couldn't figure a use for it other than some really tight spots but a long screw and a drill would solve that. Just curious.

Roger I've got one and use it quite often.
Where do I use it? Just about every time I've got to fix some framer's mistake so that my trim will go on properly.
