I need some advice from the pros since I'm at a brickwall....

I have a 12" overhang on the sides of my storage building. I have 2X4 sub-fascia attached to the tails of the 2X6 rafters on each side. I plan to use 1X6 cedar as fascia.

Each end has 2X4 lookouts extending to a 24" overhang. I would like to frame a cornice return where the gabel end roofline meets the wall but i am unsure how to accomplish this task.

I would also like some advice on how to frame the ends... Should I use a 2X6 as a fly rafter since the other rafters are 2X6?

I was planning to use 12" vinyl soffitt on the sides. How is the best way to complete the 24" ends?

Lots of simple questions, hope you can help........

Are you asking about a box soffit? Like this

Jackhammer,
Not sure if this is the style you're talking about or not, this is more of the one I showed earlier. Sorry to be slow checking in, wired for 110 running on 220 :D .
Subfascia's were 2x6 gable and eave, fascia is 1x8. Since the gable meets the eave with a plumb cut I clipped the bottom and turned the soffit there. The return framing itself is built in plane with the house sheathing. Siding could run out there or some other finish if you want to accent it. Hope this helps, good luck with the project.
