Resurfacing Walls

We are wanting to remodel the living room in our townhouse. It is open to the second floor, and one common wall is brick, while the other walls are drywall. We would like to do something to unify the look of the walls. Is there a compound or something that can be put on both the brick and drywall to give the same texture and feel to the walls?

I'd fur the wall out with 2X2 and apply drywall. That way you don't have to damage the brick and if a future owner/tenant wants the brick look it isnt impossible.
