I'll post this here for now - it will eventually be it's own page with pricing information. If you look up you will see what are known as Google Adsense ads on most of the pages of the site. As much as I dislike ads I have to pay the bills too.
Anyway we are attempting to get more paid advertisers on the site (construction specific) so are putting together a package for possible advertising costs and what the advertisers receive for that cost.
The layout will probably be similar to the Adsense ads or just a little different - location will probably be the same.
Some information on the site -
The site receives an average of:
-425 visitors per day
-320 unique visitors (new visitors)
-1200 pageviews per day
-10000 hits per day.
The site is currently ranked #2 (fluctutates b/w #1 and #2) for Home Construction on Google.com and in the top 5 for many other keywords.
If anyone is interested in advertising on the site you can email me at builder@construction-resource.com and we can work out a custom package for you. If you do not have a banner we have an individual that does banner graphics for around $20 also (satisfaction guaranteed).

Ok I've contacted a few professional marketing friends of mine. I was pretty surprised to see Home & Garden advertising to fluctuate between #1 and #2 for cost per month.
Anyway we have a few different areas that we are going to offer advertising. The first one will be a specific ad on a single page such as an article at a rate of $25/month with a discount for prepaying for a year or 2 years (still working on what that discount will be). If an ad is wanted placed randomly on every page of the site it will be $60/month and again a discount for prepaying a year or 2 years.
I'm still working on doing a cost per impression way of buying advertising. It will probably be around $60 / CPM / month.
Of course, all these costs are negotiable. Negotiable up if your attitude is bad and negotiable down if your attitude is good.
Currently I will probably leave the main page of the site out of the advertising. If someone wants a banner on the front page I will charage $150 / month with discounts for prepaying.
I may be way off on these costs - but I'm up to hearing suggestions of what yall think.

Maybe contact manufacturers and ask them if they want to advertise?

I've attempted contacting several manufacturers.. most of them must get that call 50 times per day because they have a pretty good run around in store for you.

Maybe smaller lesser known manufacturers? Maybe companies like the handyman franchies?

Excellent idea. I had totally overlooked franchise companies like U-Build It and ones like J-Channel.

Well Google has struck again. My placement for Home Construction has dropped to 21 for some reason. Our traffic is still at the levels stated.

Rick,
Why don't you use the AdSense leader board?
This helped me out alot. :!:

I'm pretty happy with the performance as it stands. I've tried the leader board and it didn't do all that well.

Hi,
Well as a new kid on the block let me state that I work with the habitat and there are things that have not worked well on ebay. I am looking for a place to lite but I need to have a handle on the people who frequent the site and what things they buy.

I am not at all familiar with advertizing, I have just started. I have the windows & doors set that I am most interested in moving buty have many other lot items to move such as bidet kits, hard hats etc...

Maybe we can walk in faith together and I would be willing to give it a whirl if the right site and numbers worked out...
