I am planning to build a two story house in North Carolina.

2700 sqft. Full unfinished basement + 2 floors
Basic rectangle. Both stories line up pretty even. Garage sticks out a little. Nothing fancy.
Basement - concrete filled block. 8ft height
1st floor 9ft, 2nd floor 8ft heights
Plan on using 2X10 floor joists, 2X4 framing. Basic windows. Basic flooring. Can anyone give me a rough estimate for materials.

Only to include.
Foundation.
Framing
Roof
Sheathing and house wrap.

Basically the cost to get it dryed in.

This includes materials only. No labor.

I am a newbi interested in building my own house.

Do you have plans etc? If so - send it to some local lumber yards. Many will have the ability to give you a price on materials. That's honestly the best way to get an accurate price without doing the takeoff yourself. If I were to guess you're probably around $120k for materials to a liveable stage.

As Rich said the best method would be to take plans to a few lumberyards and have them do a take-off. I'm not sure they would include the concrete blocks though. A masonry person may be able to help you out on that. Previous posts have mentioned using insulated concrete forms for basements costructed by homeowners without concrete forms. May be a good option if you are working alone or with little help. They are a lot lighter than block.
