Think about having our ducts cleaned on our forced air system. Is there a quick and dirty way to estimate about what this should cost?

I have an 1800sf home and it ran a bit over $500. They had a register/duct count - but can't remember what our numbers were.

I often wonder about duct cleaning but I really know nothing about it other than there are supposedly different ways to clean ducts. I wonder if individual companies have various attachment for different conditions. I remembr taking down some ducts in a home that I owned and found that the dirt on the bottom of the duct was about an inch thick and was a mixture of hair and dirt. It looked like thick felt and was stuck to the bottom of the duct. When I tried to get it out I needed a shovel to scrape it of and it came out like a mat. I often wonder how or if they had equipment that could have removed all of that mess. It was about a 40 year old house and I was going to electric baseboard. Of course 5 years later I was installing new ductwork for my gas furnace.

Just call around and get estimates. There are different ways of doing it.
