Im getting ready to invest in some shop tools, namely a 5 hp 10" table saw, an 8" jointer, a 15" planer, a spindle shaper and a dust collection system. Ive read reviews on everything from Craftsman to Powermatic.

After all the research, Im leaning towards the Grizzly line of shop tools. The reviews and specs lead me to believe that they are a good value. I should be able to get the above mentioned tools for about $5,500 delivered from Ama....I mean The Tool Crib.

Anyone have any experience with Grizzly?
Thanks,
Roger

I don't own any 'grizzlys' myself, - - but the general consensus on Grizzly is very good, - - they seem to have the rep of delivering the best 'bang for your buck', - - highly recommended for those (us) who can't afford getting into the really high-end expensive equipment.

I agree with Tom. I have some of their nailers - worked great for 6 years so far. A friend of mine bought their 6" jointer - works great - no problems after 3 years.

I'll agree with Tom as well.

Not the best out there, but not the most expensive either.

I own a Grizzly 1023 Cabinet saw and I have been very happy with it. Very heavy and stable. I have the 3hp 220v version.

I have also been hearing good things about the new Craftsman(there, I said it) cabinet saw. It is priced really well and you can also apply some discount coupons to get the price below $800.

I just read a review of the Craftsman in Workbench - it was editors choice.

I had a 15" Griz planer......not a bad machine, for the money. I think you can add that qualifier to a lot of their stuff. The stand for the planer was a complete joke though........little thin metal angle stuff that bolted together.....wobbled all over the place with the weight of the planer......if they are still using that base, toss it in the trash right off and build yourself something sturdy. I finally sold it when I bought an antique ( read that as LOTS of cast iron ) Rockwell 18" four knife planer. It's a hoss.

I've got a set of their shaper cutters on a machine (door machine ), and while they're not Freeborn cutters, they are not Freeborn price either. It's a pattern I don't use a lot, so they should last a long time.

Got an 8" jointer by Sunhill ( also some kind of Ti import ) and it's fairly well built. I'd recommend them, for the money.

But when it came to tablesaws, I bought the Powermatic.....back before Jet took them over......I understand there are some quality issues now with them.
