I was wondering if it would be beneficial if I did a bunch of standard framing and artchitectural details? I was thinking of taking something like roof framing and having a bunch of different truss types and some framing details.
Would that be beneficial to anyone?

That would be beneficial to us newbies... that is if you can find the time.

That would be good. You might need under each heading, a reference section. Say, under masonary, you would have a reference section where someone look up footings to see what a footing is and whatever info you have. Under the same section under reference you could explain concrete blocks, what they look like and how the dimensions are always the same except the thickness etc etc.

Cool.. I'll see what I can put together betweeen my day job, night job, and sleep.. :)
I've got family coming in next week so probably some time after that I can get some stuff up. The details may be biased to my experiences, but I guess that's ok.

So here's what I'm thinking on this...
Having the following sections
1. Wall Framing
2. Floor Framing - or should 1and2 be Framing?
3. Roof Framing - etc
4. Concrete
5. Masonry - Shanley - could you help with this one?
6. Trim

Then there may be some subsections under those depending on how diverse the details become. I'll probably have a search if it gets to be over 50 details - could do a small rewrite of some code from protoolreview.com.
Or maybe I'll scratch the new coding and put it into the forum under it's own heading. Any feedback on those ideas?

These sections look good topic wise. It would also be very helpful if you added some "tips by the pros" section to each one. Like when we have talked about framing in the past, you mentioned there were times when you added sheathing, house wrap and windows to a wall before you tipped it up. It seems like the general framing details are well covered in the construction books, but the details of actually errecting the structure or problems you may face are generally left out. Better yet, you could call it "Stuff you won't find in books!"

Good ideas. Although some of my details you won't find in books either.. haha.

Thats good to know! Those seem to be the little details that can make a huge difference. My favorite book opt out was how to detail a concrete slab under a man door. Needless to say I learned that lesson the hard way this spring. My slab created it's over contraction joints!
