View Full Version : bare oak jambs-wet from rain
My new Simonton windows were put in, but before the roof was finished, it rained and some of the oak jambs got wet. The corners are mainly wet, the rest of the sill, the top and sides (except last one inch in bottom corner) are currently wet. :( Do you think this will cause permanent damage?
Thanks,
Chuck

I would be asking why wood windows were installed before the roof was _done_. I would then call the manufacturer and get their opinion. If after a week they haven't warped, they'll probably be fine. The question is if they can wait a few days to let them dry out.
Thanks, great info. Two of the sills warped so far. The rest are all dry, so hopefully OK on the rest...roof on now. I may go with window sills w/ trim guy, so he'd rip out bottom piece anyway, so hopefully OK.
