Life magazine hired a well-known architect to design a "dream house" each year from '94 through '99. My favorite is the one by Robert A.M. Stern, one of the few nationally known architects who designs a lot of houses. Plans only cost $550. I have no idea how complete they are. The photos on the web site are of the rear of the house. The front is even better (see below). At the time the house was very affordable but probably not so now. A lot can be learned from just looking at these designs. I believe they come with alternate facade treatments. A real bargin! Now if they would only sell these drawings on CAD files ....
