The project is 24x48ft, 4/12 pitch. I have paid for the trusses, but they haven't been built (still waiting for the plans to be approved). The invoice includes 57 frieze blocks and 15 'bird blocks'. I know certain terms vary across the country (or continent - Hello, Canada!), but I've never installed trusses before, and I've seen discussions around blocks installed on the top plate, and between the trusses at their peak. Any suggestions?
Oh, yeah - this forum is a great source if info! :D Thanks.

I spoke with the truss builder who told me the 'bird blocks' are vents, (or blocks with spaces for vents, maybe?) and the rest of the blocks are installed between the trusses both at the peak and on the top plate. I'm having trouble with the math - maybe it'll make more sense when I start setting them... I could have found out from the truss guy - but I don't even know the right questions to ask.
I'm starting to find out how much I don't know.

I've always called them the same thing.. truss blocking :) Are you going to leave the soffits open or sheet them with something?

Hi.
My plan is to leave the soffits open for now. That's the way the rest of the house is. I think I will sheet them with plywood later.
Funny - my wife just called to tell me the trusses are being delivered right now. I don't expect the plans to be approved until late next week - and that's when I was going to have them built. Minor mixup, I guess. Unless they end up weather-damaged before I get a chance to put them up.

(edited to add...)

One more thing - should I use 'truss clips' or any other kind of bracket to make the connection between the truss and the top plate? I haven't really found a rule of thumb as to when to use a metal connector vs. toenailing. Thanks

You should toenail for installation and then come back and install hurricane clips.
