Our unfinished condominium has concrete floors, concrete ceiling, and 16" concrete support pillars placed every 15 feet. I want to attach LVL beams between all the posts and use these to attach Tru Joist trusses. the finished floor needs to come up 13 inches. The ceiling needs to be dropped 10 inches. Doing this still leaves me with a 10 foot ceiling.
Assumptions to consider
1. I am able to use a Hilti gun to install hangers needed for the LVL
2. The concrete is such that a Hilti gun will not work.
I don't quite understand your whole situation but here goes.
I'm not sure a Hilti gun is going to do it. You will probably need to install a "L" angle with a few expansion anchors into the concrete pillars. One at the bottom, of course, for the beam to sit on and possibly one at the top to keep it from rolling over. The "L" angle should have 2 holes in each side of the angle - 2 holes for the expansion anchors and 2 holes for lag bolts into the bottom / top of the LVL.

That makes sense. I think they would need to be fabricated for the LVL. Then what, drill holes to anchor them to the concrete? [/img]
Yep...
If you get 8" expansion anchors you'll probably be more than adequate. That will put embedment into the concrete about 6" or a little more.
Where in MT are you from?

Gallatin Gateway. 20 miles outside of Bozeman and 25 miles from Big Sky.
Cool. I was in Bozeman for about 6-7 years going to school and building houses. I grew up in Superior - far west. I sure miss 4 Corners Hardware - I heard they have a new location that's pretty nice?

I just got back from four corners hardware. It is a nice new store. excellent selection. lots of tools. If I find something on the internet that I want in the way of tools, I take it to them and if they come within $20 I buy locally. If you haven't been back to Bozeman for a time it has really grown. So big now they have traffic jams and drivers with road rage. It's gettting to big for us. We are moving to Lewistown in five years after I retire from the State. Working on this condo is going to be fun. If you use a search function and type in Esplanade + Lewistown + Montana you'll see where we are headed.
Just got back eh? I have to travel about 2 hours in heavy traffic to get to anything close to something like 4 corners (Rockler)
I guarantee the people there is nowhere near what I'm dealing with... it's damn depressing here in Denver.
Well good luck with your endeavors and let me know if you need anything.
