I am a MA architect and am the third owner of a Colonial Revival house built in 1891, a very early date for that style.

Last week, I got a call from a guy in CT who said he had bought a folio (big) sized illustration taken from the Supplement to the Scientific American Architects & Builders Edition 1893 at a flea market 9 years earlier and had framed it and hung it on his wall. He said he had decided it belonged with the current owner of the house and had Googled the name of the original owner and found it mentioned in a garden tour that listed the address from which he was able to get my phone number.

He emailed this photo to me and I am waiting for the framed original to arrive. No, the arrangements didn't involve a cashier's check from Nigeria.

I have the photograph from which this illustration was apparently taken but it is, of course, black & white so this is quite a wonderful thing to have discovered even as a digital photo.

He said I would have fun showing it to people in my home and I told him I would have more fun telling them how I got it.
