Hoping I can find some help here. Biggest problem is how bad the septic tank smells. From the looks of it, everything (anything that uses a pipe to get out of the house) goes in and then for the most part flows straight out. If the wind blows the wrong way it is awful. It is worse in the mornings after I've taken a shower, I guess the water runs thru the tank and then out, probably stirring up the smell??? Is there anything I can do about this? I appreciate any ideas. Thanks

you could try to decrease the water load on your system because this would be a definite sign of an undersized septic system. What kind of seepage area does your system utilize-underground pipe, sprinklers, open pit? Do you know what size your septic tank is and how long it has been since it has been pumped out?(probably the problem if this is something that has gotten a whole lot worse lately)

The only thing that I ever seen (or smelled) about septic tanks is that when you start to smell it is time to re-do the septic tank and field. Most time the field isn't draining it.
I remember reading something that in most septic fields only a very very small part of the runs are ever used. When you think of it most of the effluent would take the route of least resistance and always take the same route and will only change route when it ceases to be course of least resistance.
