I've got a pressure-treated deck that's almost a year old. The deck boards have shrunk considerably and I think it's pretty much weathered out. I was wondering what you guys think is the best stain / sealer for it. I'm thinking of going with a light cedar color, but I'm not sure what base would be best- oil, latex, or acrylic...
Thanks,
Scott

Good question - I have just installed a similar deck and the client has not made the decision regarding the finish

Behr has a new stain that is water with oil impregnation. We just rolled it on a deck again after 3 years and it has held up pretty well for Texas sun.

I just did some research for pt deck stain for here in Maine... found several recommendations (including consumer mags) for Cabot's 1400 series of solid color penetrating oil stain. I put it on my deck and it soaks right in...not like some so-called "stain" that was really like paint that peeled after two years.

Thanks for the replies. It's funny you mention Cabot, Maarkr, 'cause I've been doing a lot of research too and I've pretty much narrowed it down to an alkyd-resin stain from either Cabot or Flood. decisions, decisions...
