I just finished an equipment barn, finally, and I bought four small windows (2x2) as the finishing touch for which I have already framed the rough openings. Anyway, there are no installation instructions and, when I look on the net, all of the windows discussed have nailing fins. These windows were inexpensive and they have an aluminum flange that extends about an inch all around the window, but no nailing holes. Is this type of window simply glued in? No nails? Any help would be appreciated.

What brand of window?
Most have holes for nails in the fins.

Its an HR Window, a division of Atrium. These are inexpensive 24 inch x 24 inch windows purchased at Home Depot for an equipment shed. My current plan is to drill a few holes in the corners. Thanks. Just reading this site helped me a lot with the building, especially the roof.

Aluminum windows, especially cheap aluminum windows, don't have holes in the nailing flangle. Just nail a long roofing nail thru the flange and go on.

Cheap vinyls are the same. Make a hole, thats why its called construction. Seems like a lot of the manufacturers dont bother to think about how this stuff actually is installed.

Finally got around to the windows last night and I had no problem just using roofing nails on the aluminum flange. I appreciate the professionals here helping out us newbie-build-it-yourself types.
