I have a log home with ridge beams that span 35 feet. They are 8" x 16", one beam spans 15 feet, the other 21 feet. They are supported by a 6" x 6" post.

The beam that spans 21' long, is 22 1/2' high and spans our great room. The beam that is 15' long, is 14' high and spans our loft. These two beams meet where we want to replace the post.

I want to jack up the two ridge beams and replace the post with an 8" x 8" post.

Does anyone have any ideas how I might jack up the ridge beams, and replace the post?

Screw jacks and LVL 4x4's should do the trick.

Why dont you just wrap the 6x6 and give them the illusion of an 8x8 or larger? Unless of course, it is failing at its job.
