Well it has taken me 14 hours to ceramic tile about35 square feet above a counter top. I didn't think it was ever going to end. The little 4 inch tiles looked really great in fact better than the larger 6 inch tile I think. 16 square inches instead of 36 square inches at a time makes for a long time setting tiles. I had to cut around 8 receptacles plus window, cabinets, corner and doorway and the small tiles meant more trips out to the tile saw. It seemed like half the tiles had to be cut. Thank god the people are going away for the weekend so I'll grout next week.
I think I will consider the small tiles for myself when I do above the counter at my new house. Small areas look good with small tiles.

Absolutely. I've seen large tiles in small bathrooms, and even if there weren't 1" grout lines in sections, it still looked like crap. We have some nice 1" hexagons for the current project. And if I can get the glass tiles for the shower cut and aligned, I should be looking at tiling this weekend. I'll have to post some pics when it's all tiled. I hope you plan on posting some pics next week after grout.
