I am wrangling with design issues for a residential gazebo and bridge/walkway. I want to do it in phases, of course ($$). I have 2.5 acres with a home on one side and a small pasture on the other, separated by a pond of approximately 1/2 acre. I would like to put a small gazebo in the center with bridge/walkways from each side. The span is approximately 70'. The low water level is approximately 3' (winter) and high water level is approximately 8' (summer). I've thought about piers/pilings, but I am not sure how deep they need to be, or how to effectively get them there underwater. Also, the idea of a suspension-type bridge, but I don't have that much room or really want to see the risers for the hardware on each end. Any suggestions?

I would build floating docks and construct a floating bridge. The gazebo can either be floating and anchored, or built on piers. The nice thing about a floating dock/gazebo setup is that you'll always be on the water. The trick is to construct the gazebo so it is stable. The anchor should take care of that, but some thought should go into keeping it stable in case you have a bunch of kids out there getting rowdy.

Where are you from?

This would be a fun design for me.
