My house is on a crawl space and had 1/2" subfloors in pretty bad shape. I've put another 1/2" subfloor on top of it - lots of screws so it's nice and tight. Seems very firm. Now I want to put in 3/4" hardwood floors, but I do notice some small "dips" here and there and I know I need a level subfloor.

Question: I read in another thread that self leveling compound was used under tile floors. Will this stuff work under hardwood? And exactly what is it? Brands I should look for?

Thanks for the help.

Problem is with that stuff it will tend to crack and loose its hold. I have torn up carpet in a house and dfound it underneath. Can you shim the spots to level it out somewhat. Or plane the high spots a bit with an electric planer?
What would be ideal is a rubberized compound that leveles out the floor and has some strenght to it. I dont know if such a product exist but you might check into it.
