Looking for any feedback on some of the different types of block that are on the market, one of which being AAC. How about mortarless block that use surface bonding or those with tongue and groove? Is there something here or is it mostly hype?

I have attended a few seminars on the aac product and I was not impressed...I'm a brick and traditional reinforced masonry (Block, Rebar, and Grout) advocate all the way!

Installed these 4 1/2 years ago and have been very happy with the results. Although I sold the house 1 1/2 years ago when I drove by last month the wall still looked just as good as it did when first built.

I've read a couple places that say anything more than 4' high needs to be professionally installed. Anyone ever get around this by putting in two levels?

Dry laid units work great in retaining wall and such...I was commenting more specifically on the aac units
