I was looking for some input on elastomeric coatings on block walls. Due to cost factors we are constructing a block wall for our house(as opposed to poured walls or precast). One of the things I would like to do is waterproof the exterior. After a contacting 20 different companies I have come up with this product called LM-60. http://www.gaco.com/02aps_01bg_sp2.html. This stuff forms a 60 mill elastic membrane on the wall after it dries. It can be hand applied, I can cover 1200 square foot below grade for roughly $1100.00 With a primer and shipping the whole bill will be about $1500. Does this sound reasonable for basement waterproofing? I know it is better than the standard "Tar" coating that goes on in this area. Are the any draw backs that I should know about?
It looks real similar to procore (sp?) by Grace. Procore is an excellent product which ends up being about a similar 60mil coating.
The downside to procore is that the cost is about double what you have there.
Overall with looking at the specifications it should work just fine - and like you said much better than tar.

The problem with ProCor is that it's a two part spray applied product...It doesn't seem to be home owner friendly...Is the LM-60 a W.R. Meadows product?
That is true Shanley - home owner friendly it is not.

I am not sure who makes it, the main company is GACO (www.gaco.com). What I really like is the MSDS sheet. It seems like a pretty safe compound to work with. Basically a 2 part polymer that you mix for 5 minutes and hand trial.
