I purchased a 2 story home with a walkout finished basement about 3 months ago in Iowa. The previous owners had a hottub setting on a concrete slab against the rear of the house. When moving the hot tub they drained all the water right there on the ground.. Now that the ground has frozen, the concrete has noticeable raised a couple of inches. My concern is that when it starts raining before the frost is out of the ground, will it cause some water to come into my house? This slab is about 6 inches from the foundation of my house. What can I do to prevent water from entering my house or damaging the foundation?? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or input.

Well there isn't a lot you can do with it now that it's there, unfortunately. As far as raining while the ground is frozen - as long as your site grade is sloping away from the house you should be ok.

Even if the grade is not slopeing away, I would expect you could back fill that area to create the grade you need.
