I went to pick up a box of those metal clamp connectors for metal junction boxes and some guy at Lowes suggested I use these little black plastic things that work like Chinese finger traps. He says it really cuts down on time and nobody really uses the metal clamps anymore unless they absolutely have to.

I just got 10 of the metal connectors since the project is pretty heavy duty this time. I was going to get a box of 100 since they go pretty fast.

Is this in the same category as the push-in connections on receptacles?

The black plastic ones are great. Big time savers and you can install more than one cable through them. Also, no chance of an overzealous installer cutting through sheathing by overtightening the screws. They're widely accepted by the trade.

Yep, agree with Sparks on this one (as I generally do). I always prefer to use plastic with NM cabling.
