I'm NOT a professional builder but I have sub-contracted two houses for myself when I lived up North. What makes me laugh are all people who call themselves "Builders", just because they took a course or got their "Certification".
About 7 years ago I contracted a "Builder" to build my present home because I was very new to the area & thought that I didn't have to time to do it myself. One of the most glaring errors that he made was not allowing enough room on the outside of the wall framing for a 4" brick veneer....
When I asked him how he was going to put a brick veneer on the house his reply was that the brick masons would probably end up cutting the brick in half....
I told him that it was not going to be an option on my house and he ended up tearing down the wall and doing it all over again.
Beware...these guys are out there.
