Can someone tell me a good reason why I shouldn't use composite wood for buck boards (other than cost) for my windows ?
Or even for the cap going over the top of the concrete block for the roof trusses to sit on (whats that called) ?
Thanks

Maybe some moisture issues?

This is only one link to many I looked at and it seems that moisture would be much more less of an issue with composite wood than any other. I'll have to do some more research I guess but I wonder about its application mounted against concrete.
Thanks

'composite wood' covers a range of products from OSB to MDF. Usually they're prone to swelling when wet. What type of composite are you looking at? I guess it's treated somehow?

Thanks for the help. I guess I need to do more research on specifications rather than a well placed advertisement. The way some of the sites make they're product sound like you can put it down on decks ect... and then don't worry about moisture, mildew, ect..
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll do more research or just go with the copper base treated lumber ?

Well, now, I'm certainly not the 'world's greatest authority' and you might have found a decent product. Sure, do more research, including looking a little deeper at this composite you've found. If they're advertising it as a moist-environment product, I'd guess it's treated or sealed in some way that keeps it stable. Just so long as you don't listen to just one opinion... not even mine!

First thanks for your honesty and secondly thanks for the open minded advice which is what this simple minded country boy needs.
I will do more research.
Thanks again.
