Well it sort of worked. I thought I did 3 pictures and the 2 that did appear are out of sequence.
The switches on the right of the doorway were on the left so I had to re route the wires. Some went up and over and other went down and around. There were also receptacles on the kitchen side of the wall that had to be changed( that's why the holes in the drywall) plus add a stove receptacle and some split plugs.
Some of the cabinets that you can see will also be mixed and matched in different locations
The back of the fridge you see in the first pic will be moved to the right of the doorway which is one of the reasons for having to remove cabinets.
I'm taking off today and won't be back for a week or so.

good work. I, personally, prefer the more open version.

Just back for a day or so.Things going real slow. I 'm really a slug when it comes to doing my own stuff. I'm just enjoying the area which is about 1 1/2 hours north from where I live. Haven't figured out the cabinets yet because I'll have to cut some down to a smaller size. If it was for a customer I would say to buy new cabinets but of course now it is MY money and the time is mine.. Lots of things that could be done but am trying to utilize what I've already got. A delicate balance between cheque book and needs and wants.
Did all the drywall work in the kitchen which took me forever. SLUG again.

The new wall is only 6 inches higher than the countertop. I originall wanted the wall to be level with the countertop but the wife said in aghast " people will be able to see all the clutter when I'm cooking!" Well silly me. Typical man...... I mean what could I have been thinking.
Just for a laugh, go up to any wall and mark 36 inches, which is the height of a countertop. Stand back and look at that mark and you will swear that it is waaaaayyyyyyy too low for a countertop. Strange but true..
Some of the melamine cabinets that I have taken down will have to be cut down to make them narrower to fit in. I've only got a 40 tooth blade on my tiny table saw so it my make a mess cutting the melamine. A 60 tooth melamine blade would work but darn if I'm going to spend that sort of money. I', not too bad with a hand saw and after all it was the way it used to be done. I'll pratice on a few pieces first. The door fronts also have to be made narrower. You probably can't see it but the wooden bottom of the doors have an elongated finger hole centered on the wood. Ideally it would be better to take a slice off each side of the door9(and putting new melamine edges) thereby leaving the finger hole still centered BUT that means re-doing the hinge hole and I don't have a forstner bit or a drill press. I might just take it off one side. put a new melamine edge and hope no one mentions the fact that the holes don't seem quite centered. At least anyone with any couth won't mention it. On another base cabinet I'm taking the large pot drawers and putting them in a cabinets that just has doors. Another base cabinet that held the cooktop I will turn the large top phoney drawer into a real drawer.
The next job will be to scrape the ceilings of all the stipple. Because it had never been painted in the 23 years it shouldn't be too hard to get off though super messy. I don't care if it ends up being slightly bumpy, I just don't like what I have and it is in almost the entire house.

It apparently works for some folks because I hear them commenting on the photos......but about 95% of them don't show for me.

But all I see is a box with a title XYZZZZ.JPG , a file size and veiwed "x" number of times.

CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN WHY THAT IS ????

Whenever I post a pic, I can see it, and apparently everyone else can too......but not ya'lls. Never had this happen on any other board, so I have to think it's a 'switch' somewhere in the settings for me.

Hope Cole or Rich can help you. It's taken me months and months trying to post a picture and even now it still screws up on me.
I'm lucky my wife (being German) doesn't really know alot about about computers but is tenacious as hell. Bitchy as hell too but we won't get into that. Sometimes if she condecends to help me it works. Myself personally, even though we have had some sort of computer since the mid eighties and been on the web for over ten years I'm like a trained monkey in that I only know certain things and I just repeat what I already know.
I've fooled alot of people for alot of years.

As I mentioned earlier I had removed most of my cupboards and was going to rearrange them in different locations. I just finished all that and it worked out great. These are older European type cabinets where they have all the shelf and bracket holes already drilled in every panel whether you needed them or not. I took off large sliding pot drawers and put them in another cabinet. Doors, drawers hardware are inter-changeable in every location. Some of the cabinets were too big to fit in their new space so had to cut them down. Because the cabinets are melamine my ordinary saw blade chips the surface so I bought a melamine blade. It works absolutely great. I had to take one apart to see how they were assembled the make to appropraite cuts to make them smaller. The back of the cabinets had to be about 1/4 longer to fit into a slot in the side panel. I would take a complete cupboard and cut everything 1/4 longer than needed. Then with the end piece off I would recut to the correct size. Whether you understand what I am saying I don't know but it worked. I also tried out my new air brad nailer. Lordy! Lordy where have I been all these years.
I also had to cut down the doors to fit the smaller cabinet and then iron on some new melamine strips on the end. Next week I'm going to try walking on water.
