when doing a new house, before any furniture is in, would it be fine to use a paint sprayer or would does it come out a lot better if you use rollers and go slower? if so, what paint sprayer is recommended?

I always roll everything. Its less mess and you already have the texture to repaint if you have any accidents while you finish building. If this is the only house you're going to paint roll covers are a lot less expensive than a sprayer that may be used only once. Just my preference anyway.

When we remodel whole houses and the floor is not an issue, we tape of all the wood and windows and spray. It is very fast.

New construction or large remaodels we always spray and back roll at the same time. 2 guys can mask , prime spray, back roll and finsh paint the ceiling in 1.5 days. The spray is VERY fast. THe masking takes awhile but still is way faster.

As long as you are using a decent sprayer you will get good results. If you will be doing painting a lot, it will be worth it to get one of the "professional" high volume low pressure airless sprayers. Personally, I have not backrolled ever but do understand that it makes it much easier to repaint problems and not be noticeable.
