I am building a 3- season room on my summer place. I was able to get the floor joists and sheating down, and the walls framed. Now between overtime at work and other obligations I haven't been able to get out there. The floor is 5/8" ply with joists 16" o/c. How much rain can it take before it's permanently damaged ? There's a little drought right now so it's only rained a couple times. Should I at least get out and cover with visqueen ? Thanks, Jack
It really depends on how much standing water is on the material and for how long. It's probably a good idea to cover it with something.. visqueen, tarps, etc. if you're not going to be out there for awhile. If you do cover - make sure the foundation vents are open - or give it a way to have air flow under it.
I wouldn't cover your sub floor, get a mop and a bucket of water seal, I water seal every sub floor and it does'nt take long (30-45 min). Mid point block all your framing. Dry in your ex. walls if you haven't allready, its more imporant than getting you roof on.
