Sounds dang high to me. I only charge 70 to do a replacment, and that includes taking out the old, installing the new, wrapping the wood on the outside, and taking the old to the dump.....and me supplying the trim coil for the wrap along with caulk and insulation.

What's the big deal about installing new ? Walk up to hole, slap window in, plumb, level, put some nails around the nailing flange most of them have. What....5 minutes ? .....I'd think 25/window would be more than fair, UNLESS you're talking some kind of great big, odd suckers.

Uh, Mitchel....I said:

..I'd think 25/window would be more than fair, UNLESS you're talking some kind of great big, odd suckers.

30windows x $25 = $750.....which is MORE THAN FAIR.....meaning THE MAX I WOULD CONSIDER PAYING.....actually, as easy as it is to do, I wouldn't pay ANYTHING myself.....but then that's why I built my first house and kept on trucking for the last 30 years......ahahahahahaa......guy gave me a quote on some fieldstone on the front that house....to which I replied "Dang buddy.....NOW you gone and made a stone mason out of me".....and after 30 years, I still drive by there and it still looks GOOD ! :D

But I guess you'll have to pay what you have to pay if you're not gonna stick 'em in yourself......and again, I add the qualifier....."assuming they are NOT great BIG or some odd configurations" and the rough opening is already prepared. Heck, it may be a GREAT price if you have a bunch of 10' high windows and a bay window or two.....

Times I've framed houses for folks in the past, doors and windows were always included in the framing price and felt on the roof. Not so in your case ?

And as to time....that is impossible to say from the information you furnished. How big are the windows ? Are they ground level or ladder/scafolding work ? Nailing fins or not ?.....and so on....

You question is like "is $1000 to much to have my car fixed".....well, if all you need is air in the tires, yeah...probably to much....but if you need the motor overhauled and a paint job, that 's a deal !

See what I'm saying ?

We put in 19 windows in our new house a few months ago and it took less than half a day.

Windows are stupid simple. Especially on a wood house. I had never even done it before and it was stupid simple. I just put my old windows out on the street and let the Haitians drive by and take them away for me. I don't know what they do with them.

Wow, so 30 windows should be a 1 day job. good. Trying to put together a construction budget here. I am in finance, you probabley can tell by my posts that I have very little construction knowledge. whats the best windows for the money? what windows are recommended for home use for the best value? I don't need 500.00 per window pella to have a good window do I?
