Landscaping Fabric

Could someone tell me the name of a good landscaping fabric and possibly a popular store to buy it from ?
The fabric is for help in the retention of dirt and keeping it in place so it does not wash into a drainage area below grade around a house foundation but still allows the dirt to breath. I don't need the fabric for weed control.

I've used the dupont brand from lowes only as a weed control. It's been under brick chips for about 5 years now, seems to have held up well. I'm sure a generic brand would be cheaper and probably hold up just as well.

That sounds good. I will check into that. My goal is to retain the dirt from getting into the pea gravel back fill for the next few years, thus giving the dirt enough time to settle firmly into place. So I will be leaving the fabric in place once its installed.
