hi

i'm doing a complete gut and rehab on the second story of a 2 story home. i've pulled up the old subfloor, and found some faced insulation which is in in pretty tired shape.

is it a good idea to replace it, given that it's going to be between 2 heated floors? would it's only purpose be as a sound barrier? is it correct to assume if i do replace it, to use unfaced insulation?

thanks

IMHO, it's just there for sound- if you replace it, unfaced would be the thing.

Ditto on what Bob said, no vapor barrier needed if no temp. difference.
