Ladder Framing Gable End overhangs

I was a little bored so I put together a 3d drawing of a typical 2' overhang framing with ladder and drop truss. This also shows the blocking on top of the drop truss.. I made the sub-fascia on the end as 2x4 - my bad.

Is using this method easier than than notching a space for each rung? When I build my overhang for my garage this summer I notched the trusses for the lookouts (I think that is the right word) and it worked Ok. My only beef was that it was really awkard to haul up because I framed it on the ground.

I personally don't like to notch the truss.. it's engineered to be the way it comes off the truck. Unless it was alright with the manufacturer I wouldn't recommend it. Yeah the "ladder" can get pretty heavy. Yep.. lookouts.
