Yeah that's my question.
I have been asked to seal 800 liner feet of 5’ wood fence. I will be using a SprayTech Apex 1420 airless sprayer to apply the sealant.
I am trying to decide between BEHR No. 300 Waterproofing Wood Protector and Thompson’s Water Seal. The cost is about the same. The main difference is the the Thompson’s recommend clean up be done with mineral spirits while the BEHR is soapy water. Mineral spirits is nasty stuff and I’d rather not have to deal with it.
Does anyone have any experience or recommendation on which product to use?
Thanks,
Ken
I personally don't care for Thompson's - just doesn't seem like it holds up as well as other products. Wow this is an old post and CThomp I apologize for not responding to it :)
Anyway I'll respond now. I like Sikkens for wood siding and logs and Cabots for decking (or composite decking and no finish).

Yeah you jerk!!! I can't believe you never responded!!!
Just kidding.
I'm still tossing around what to use. My dad used Thompson's on his deck but it doesn't get full sun or all of the extremes. The deck is a wrap around porch on a house with a roof over the entire deck.
My decks will be almost fully exposed.
When I worked at West Marine when I was in college alot of folks raved about Sikkens to protect the wood on their boats. Maybe i'll look into that once my decks are actually built.
Decks in Florida often have a short life becuase of the elements. I plan on being fairly religious about protecting my decks. Insecticide sprayers do wonders for applying wood sealers to decks.

Wouldn't that give the wood a bit of a burnt look anyhow? And maybe a bit slippery?
