I have 300 feet of privet hedge and want to run sprinklers. I was leaning toward running 3/4 pvc and teeing off every 3 feet with umbrella bubblers. I would need 100 bubblers and i figured 50 for each station. The guy at the irrigation place said i wouldn't have enough pressure, but the bubblers at the low setting put out 1.3 gallons and hour. I have over 100lbs of pressure and need to regulate this, so pressure is not a problem. He suggested using rainbird soaker line with the soakers built in and running the 300 feet off of one valve only with the soakers every 18" which over 300' would be 200 soakers. At .9 gallons an hour per soaker this equals 180 gallons an hour. I want to use 50 bubblers per station which would only be 65 gallons an hour. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Use the soaker, should be cheaper on the install and use less water due to lower evap. rates. I had to replace an underground PVC line that developed leaks. According to the previous owner it had been buried 8years. :)

ya, i'm going with the soaker tubing with an inline filter. i'm teeing in right at the center point of the 300' and bringing in a 1" pvc and reducing down to the soaker. The pvc I was going to inst. was going to be above ground behind the hedge so it wouldn't have been too much trouble. If the pvc you say was developing leaks and problems after 8 years then it wasn't installed correctly or maybe was sch. 200 and got hit or something. In my opinion pvc is extremely reliable and permanent if done right, that's why I wanted to go with it the whole way. thanks

Pressure compensating drip tube. It's inexpensive, last twenty years, is repairable, invisible, and waters perfectly even regardless of grade (within reason) and can be custom configured. Any farm irrigation supply will know what you're asking for.
