I've been going to put up framing details for awhile now - so here is another. This has to do with 3 different types of outside corners. There are others - but these are the main ones. As you can see - what I consider the best is the bottom one - it gives all the structural integrity we need for the house to stay up and also the most available area for insulation (whether it be batt or foam ,etc).
The best one will use a drywall clip in the corners in lieu of a framing member.

Sophist made a good point to me that I should clarify for other members. The "better" method above is probably the most widely used method of framing outside corners and works excellent for about any type of interior finish.
What I consider the "best" works well for drywall only where it can support some of it's own weight. With a paneling you would find that you need to provide some type of blocking at the corners.
