Just finished plumbing my own new home. I am not a plumber but have
seen lots on the houses we build. After water useage ( shower, washing machine) I am getting noise from the pipes. I attached the pipes
to the underside of the floor joists in the crawlspace using the nail in place
clamps. Could it be that I attached them too tight and the expansion and contraction is what I hear rubbing against the wood?

Well water. It is low pitched squeaking/rubbing noise. It is definately related to water usage .

I agree with you RandyW, it is probably your hot water pipe expanding and contracting during and after use.

One remedy is to go back into the crawl space, remove each strap, and put a piece of rubber between the pipe and the joist and the pipe and the strap.
