Greetings all. I had a new lawn installed in my backyard after a major addition left the yard torn up and rocky. It was all leveled and then had 3-4 inches of screened loam spread over it. It should be noted that I live in the Northeast and winter is coming. Hydroseed was applied with great results in early September and the lawn is full and thick and doing nicely. I believe the hydroseed was a tri-blend of Kentucky Blue, Fescue and Rye. I want to know whether I should apply a winter fertilizer or if the grass is still too tender for it and I should just let it sit for the winter.
My other question is simple: Is it too late to start any new grass? I just completed a cement walkway to the new addition and need to seed a 2 foot wide patch on each side for approximately 28 feet. Would I be wasting the seed and my money seeding now and just wait till spring? Or is there still time for the seed to take and root for the winter? Thanks for the help.
