Hello everyone. I just wanted to take a second and introduce myself. I'll be helping build my new residential 2 story "saltbox" house this summer and am sure I'll find this site handy when I encounter the inevitable "binds" that develop throughout the project. I have a friend who will be acting as my licensed GC, which allows me to perform quite a bit of sweat equity during the process. Hence the need for me to bring my building knowledge up to par for this seemingly overwhelming project.

This site appears to be very informative and an extensive resource for gaining knowledge and troubleshooting ideas.

I do have one question already. In the DIY section of this site on the Floor Framing link, the first page describes how to mark off the position of the sill plates on the foundation walls and the location of the anchor bolts on the sill plate. The explanation provided is very detailed, however I am having a hard time picturing this process in my head. Does anyone have or can easily draw a diagram for this process?

Anyways, thank you for providing this resourceful site and I intend on using it to its full potential.

Mark

Thanks for the compliments. I'll see if I can put together a plan view drawing of what the article describes.

I apologize for this taking so long. Here are 2 images that may give some more insight. Not sure if the small dimensions and stuff are going to be readable. Let me know if you don't understand and I'll try to get a bigger image.
