can someone recommend a good airless spray gun. I want one to spray the primer in the house. I dont want to spend a lot since I will likely not use it much after I spray the primer.

I'm no expert on airless sprayers, - - but seems to me it'd be cheaper to rent a good one then buy a cheap one.

I agree with Tommy.

Those $50 Wagner sprayers that hold about a quart at a time will put on the primer. It doesnt save a whole lot of time though. As far as the real airless sprayers- the cheap ones are hard to use.

Gonna cost you 350-500 bucks to get decent one.....one that you could rent for 30-40 bucks and will do the job in a couple hours.

"since I will likely not use it much after I spray the primer." is exactly the criteria for renting a good tool versus buying a crappy cheap one.

Grayco sprayers are good but expensive unless you find a used one. Parts to rebuild them are $150 or so but man, will they spray.

The Wagner sprayers described by Valent have no consumer value whatsoever, IMO and I will not buy ANY Wagner product for that reason. I could put the paint in my mouth and spit it on and do a better and faster job than a Wagner 1 quart electric "sprayer". Better atomization, too.

Edit: If you have high cielings remember cheap sprayers have no reach.

Spence is right on......those cheapie Wagner 'buzz' unit shouldn't even be taken out of the box......just throw them directly in the trash and save yourself the grief.

ahahahaaaaaaaaa.......sooooooooo true ! I can TELL you used one !

I own a Graco XR-7, which is a middle of the road Graco unit, and just what I need for couple hundred gallon/year use. Sits over a 5 gallon bucket and will put that on the wall in 15 minutes if YOU can move fast enough !

I forgot to mention don't use cheap paint in airless units, the abrasive in the paint will chew up the ball and seat as well as cylinder and ram. That how I found out how much the parts were. Learning curve for me, I don't do much painting. I borrowed a friend's Graco and had to rebuild it.
It makes me wonder how those rental places make out with their clients using cheap paint. 20 gallons can do a lot of damage.
