View Full Version : Drywall to shower surround
Installed new fiberglass shower. After I install drywall over flange to shower edge, should the joint between the shower and the drywall be mudded or filled with silicone? I would think mudding might look better but would cracking over time be an issue?

I always 'flat-tape' it with mud, then GE silicone caulk (after it's painted).

I did exactly as Tom described, but ya gotta use the good stuff. The best grade GE caulk meant for kitckhens and baths, forget the cheap caulk.
Thanks guys, Hopefully will git'r'done this wkend

If the drywall is installed tight (Under 1/8") you may simply caulk.
For wider joints tape with the first coat consisting of a set-fast drywall compound.
